Protect the environment = save animals !

Helping animals is easier than some may imagine. Of course cutting back on the number of animal products that you purchase is a huge way of helping, but there are other environmental ways you can help. The organization WWF, helps preserve natural conservations and in doing so helps save endangered animals. Chelsea Lumiere a representative from WWF was kind enough to answer some questions to do with the organization.

Q: What can the public do to get involved?

A: The public can do a lot to get involved with helping our environment. We have a program here called the Community Panda program, which is for third party fundraisers. People can raise funds through birthday parties, community events, school events etc, and they can then donate the funds to WWF-Canada. We also have a great volunteer program here at WWF, as well as an online community to help people with ideas of every day actions they can take to reduce their impact on the environment: http://community.wwf.ca/.

Q: How does the Organization go about protecting the conservation lands?

A: WWF-Canada works with other non-profits, governments as well as companies to try and get land protected and practices changed. There are few examples of successes that we have had at the following link to our site: http://wwf.ca/about_us/successes/.

Q: How does protecting these lands, help endangered animals?

A: Protecting these lands and waters is vital to the survival to many Canadian species. Once land is protected, development of these areas comes to a stop and species are able to flourish, or at least survive without having their habitats encroached on by humans.
